SNOOKI TRIES TO TRADEMARK HER NICKNAME... AND FAILS.
Poor Snooki, looks like she is going to have to pick a new a.k.a., because "Snooki" is not available.  She can always pick a different one... strippers change their name every other lap dance.

Too bad for Snooks (Nicole Polizzii) that a fictional cat just ruined any chances of "Snooki" trademarking her 'Jersey Shore' nickname.

Yesterday (Thursday), the US Patent Office denied an application filed by the reality star to trademark her infamous nickname. The little turnip shaped Seaside Heights socialite had hoped to copyright her Jersey  Shore nickname for use in "entertainment in the nature of personal appearances by a television personality."

Well it turns out that the name "Snooki" is already taken. The name was registered for the Adventures of Snooky... Which is a 2004 children's book about a cat that gets knocked overboard on a fishing trip.

"The terms SNOOKY and SNOOKI are very similar," the US Patent and Trademark Office wrote in its trademark refusal, obtained by TheSmokingGun.com. "Therefore, given the similarity of marks and identity of goods, there is a likelihood of confusion."

Snooki's Jersey Shore co-star and fellow douchebag, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino trademarked his name just a few months ago and has since lent his suddenly-famous face and frame to a fitness supplement, a clothing line, and even a rap song... All of which are ridiculously terrible!

Snooki, looks like a name change is in order... what would you change her name too??  I am leaning towards, Troll Poof.
