Even with the burden of cancer on his shoulders, Douglas is very optimistic.

kikster is sad to report that Michael Douglas (65) has been diagnosed with throat cancer and will be undergoing radiation and chemotherapy.

According to Douglas' rep doctors discovered a tumor and the actor will have to undergo eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy.  Luckily, Michael's physicians expect him to make a full recovery.

No word on whether or not smoking was a contributing cause of his cancer.  The actor and his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, said in 2006 that they were trying to quit their half-pack a day cigarette habit.

Douglas said in a recent statement to the press, "I am very optimistic".

Here's to a safe and speedy recovery.
