DAVID AND VICTORIA BECKHAM MAKE CUTBACKS
2010-08-20 09:51:45
Even the richest of the rich seem to be tightening up their belts during these hard economic times. The Beckhams cut costs and laid off some of their servants....
After their accountant warned them that they're basically "throwing money down the drain", David and Victoria Beckham have cut their private staff down by a third... Oh, the problems of the rich and famous.. lol!
Victoria called in their accountant to overhaul their finances because she was afraid that their high-spending lifestyle wasn't appropriate at a time when ordinary people are trying to cut back due to financial recessions.
Posh was told by their accountant that they wasted hundreds of thousands a year on surplus staff at their homes in England, Los Angeles, France, and Dubai.
A source close to Posh said: "This very no-nonsense accountant gave it to Vic straight and said, 'You CAN afford to employ all of these people. But why the hell DO you?'"
As a result of the conversation, substantial cuts in staffing at their multiple homes around the globe.
David (35) and Victoria, who were employing just under 50 staff members worldwide, were initially reluctant to let go of the 14 who were given their walking papers.
The source added: "Once the accountant pointed out that level of staffing was not required, Vic pushed the button."
"There has been a large downsize. David and Victoria are multi-millionaires but that doesn't mean they have to waste money - and they were haemorrhaging it."
Casualties included a cleaner who worked at their home in England for eight years. She was replaced by two "cost efficient" foreign staff.
The chief gardener must now double up by driving Posh (36) and Becks to the airport to save on chauffeurs... But consider him lucky because six out of seven gardeners have been laid off at their huge estate in Bargemon in the south of France.
The Beckhams, worth an estimated $200 million, also had two personal assistants in Spain and six chauffeurs were used worldwide.
I guess it is all relative... I decided to walk this morning instead of taking the bus...
